KINESIO - TAPE
Developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase, DC over 25 years ago Kinesio taping is a highly effective therapeutic/rehabilitative taping method offered at all of the outpatient clinical facilities of Taylor Physical Therapy Associates. Highly publicized in the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing this taping technique is effective in allowing athletes to utilize a joint through full range of motion while also encouraging fluid movement away from the injured joint to decrease edema. Kinesio tape uses the body’s own natural healing processes to relieve pain and restore function by activation of the neurologic and circulatory systems.

Kinesio taping involves taping over and around effected muscles to assist/give support to the injured muscle. This allows the patient to participate in physical activities with functional assistance. Additionally, tape can be applied to prevent over contraction of a muscle. This method is often utilized during the acute stages of rehabilitation to prevent overuse and facilitate lymph flow to prevent painful swelling.

Our trained physical therapists utilize Kinesio tape in conjunction with hydro therapy, electrical stimulation, massage therapy and exercise to maximize patient outcomes and minimize treatment duration.
